Registration for Exams

Registration for Exams #

Please note that you must register online for all module final exams (MAP), regardless of the format of the exam or whether it is graded. This also applies to the MAP for the main excursion. Registration via phone or email will not be accepted!

If you do not register for the MAP, no retroactive recognition of achievements will take place, even if they have been completed.

Please note that the successful registration for exams, including meeting deadlines, is your own responsibility!

Exceptions and Special Cases #

BZQ, Geographical Professional Practice & Scientific Writing #

The completion of the Geographical Professional Practice is reported to the Examination Office by the practice workshop, and participation in Scientific Writing is communicated by the lecturers.

Bachelor’s or Master’s Thesis #

You must either register your thesis in person at the Examination Office or send the completed and signed registration form by email from your HU account.

Registration for the Interdisciplinary Elective Area #

Students taking modules for the interdisciplinary elective area must also register online via AGNES for “a module without an exam.” Only in this way can the Examination Office of the offering department record your performance.

Registration for ERASMUS #

Erasmus students and visiting students must register in person or by email with the Examination Office within the deadlines.

Registration for the 3rd Exam Attempt #

Attention: Students who wish to register for the 3rd attempt have the option to first attend a consultation with the respective examiner. The exam registration will then take place in person at the Examination Office! Please present proof of the consultation or your waiver for this consultation.

Other Notes #

Deadlines #

You can find the registration deadlines and the exam schedule on the Geography Examination Office website (Faculty). Please also pay attention to information on your HU account and through the newsletter.

If you encounter problems with online registration – for example, due to technical reasons – please contact the Examination Office immediately (not the lecturers). If you have the right to be admitted to the exam, they will gladly assist you.

Therefore, please do not wait until just before the end of the registration deadline to register for exams, as it may not be possible to resolve any issues that arise at that time.

If you have not received a TAN list or have lost it, please contact the AGNES-Team.

In urgent exceptional cases, you will receive a new TAN list from the Examination Office.

Withdrawal from Registered Exams #

You can withdraw from an exam online without giving reasons up to one week before the exam date. If you should fall ill on the day of the exam, please submit the corresponding applications and proof to the Examination Office immediately, no later than within 3 working days (date of postmark).

Repetition of Exams #

For written and oral exams, there is a repetition period before the start of the next semester. You can decide for yourself when to take written exams or oral exams and are not obligated to do so in the first exam period. However, if you attempt the exam in the second exam period and fail, or if you miss both exam periods, you will usually only be able to retake the exam after a year. Please also note that there are courses (and associated MAPs) that are not offered annually. Elective courses are often only offered once, so once the exam periods have passed, you will no longer have the right to take exams for these courses.
