Objectives and Content (MEd) #

While the Combined Bachelor’s program establishes subject-specific expertise, the Master of Education in Geography primarily focuses on the didactic expertise that you will acquire as a teacher. The program consists of modules that address both short-term and long-term lesson planning, consistently aligned with the core concepts of the subject. Another module focuses on media and methods for geography instruction and their application in different teaching phases. The Cartography and Geomedia module centers on the use, handling, and development of cartographic skills.

In Berlin, you will complete a practical phase from September to the end of January. During this internship semester, you will work at a placement school, where you will be mentored by an experienced teacher and receive subject-specific didactic guidance from the Geography Didactics team.

You will complete the Master of Education with a (typically) didactics-focused master’s thesis, in which you will conduct empirical research on a topic related to geography didactics. An overview of previously supervised theses can be found here.
