2019-09: Replaced HDD with SSD, switched from Fedora 30 to Lubuntu 19.04.

  • Lubuntu 19.04

  • QLC+ 4.12.2 (as of 2019-09)

Choosing the right distribution

The sole purpose of this computer is to run QLC+. The linux distribution has been chosen accordingly. As of 2019-09, the following installation methods are mentioned on the website (non-comprehensive):

  • repository for Fedora 29

  • repository for Ubuntu 18.04

  • various binaries for direct download

The repository for Fedora 29 cannot be used with the current version (Fedora 30). Ubuntu 18.04 is an LTS release and should be preferred over non-LTS versions. A lightweight desktop environment should be used such as the Lubuntu flavour. However, QLC+ uses Qt5 and Lubuntu 18.04 comes with the GTK-based LXDE. Lubuntu 19.04 comes with LXQt and the repository for 18.04 can be added to 19.04. This is why Lubuntu 19.04 has been chosen over Lubuntu 18.04.
