Belén Ávila

Visiting Scientist

My name is Belén Ávila, and I am from Argentina. I have a PhD in Biology with a Master’s degree in Wildlife Management. Currently, I am conducting my postdoctoral research at the National University of Río Cuarto in Argentina, and I will be undertaking a short research stay with Professor Tobias Kuemmerle. My research focuses on studying the potential effects of the jaguar reintroduction in the Ibera Wetlands (Argentina), as well as its cascading effects on herbivores (capybaras) and plant communities. Additionally, I am beginning to study the movement patterns of the reintroduced jaguars, how they use their habitat, and potential conflicts with human activities.
