I studied Conservation Biology and Management wanting to get out in the field and into conservation practice right away. Somewhere on the way I got side-tracked into completing a masters degree in Quantitative Methods, which got me into the fields of spatial ecology and land-use change. Now , I am thrilled to be starting a PhD with the Biogeography lab that combines all and gets me back out in the field to understand how land use systems affect biodiversity in South American dry forests. As a trained ecologist and conservationist, I am lucky to benefit from the diverse backgrounds and interdisciplinary research carried out by everyone here, to gain a more holistic understanding of the regions land-use and conservation challenges.
