María Vallejos

Postdoctoral scientist

I am an agronomical engeneer working in conservation sciences. My work is based on the sustainable management of ecosystems using ground data, GIS, and remote sensing tools. Throughout my scientific career I have focused on the problems associated with agricultural expansion and land use changes. During my scientific career, I studied the land-use changes dynamics in the South American Chaco, its consequences in the social-ecological configuration, and the impact in the most vulnerable communities against forest loss. My research contributes to more tailored, and thus more effective land-use policies for the natural resources management and for a more equitable distribution of the benefits and harms of land-use changes among different stakeholders. See my personal website for more information about my research and my publications.
